What is Love, Brown Girl?

Love, Brown Girl is a site that was created to discuss and promote topics and clothing items that are relevant to all women, especially women of color. Here you can find blog posts, products and current fashion trends that I love, and a section to highlight my family and friends that are doing things in our area.

But just so we are on the same page, this site's primary focus is to allow women of color (especially black women) to have a place to start conversations, review topics that are interesting, and beauty trends that apply to us. Tina Knowles explained it best, "Its such beauty in black people and it really saddens me when we're not allowed to express that pride in being black, and that if you do, then it's considered anti-white. No! You’re just pro-black. And that's okay, the two don't go together".

2022 Spring Fashion Trends

Each season a new trend is out but I want to highlight the top ones that I love and offer them here at an affordable price!

Movement

Let’s be honest, we doesn’t love a little movement and a fridge top, shacket or dress does just that. This is a trend for Spring 2022 but honestly, I think the right pieces can be stellar stable pieces in any closet.

The Oversized Look

The days of tight tops and jeans may be coming to short end. The oversized look gives women the comfort we want, while still able to keep it sexy.

The ‘Naked’ Look

Being able to pair a nice sheer top with a blazer or jeans is all the crave.

The Business Look

I love how we can mix the traditional business look with a night time flare. Pair your traditional blazer and pant suit outfit with a flirty bra or crop top to spice up your look to do from day to night with a simple addition.

But What If It Works?

I read somewhere during the initial idea of creating my blog, that each day there are over 50,000 blogs started. Wow – if that is not discouraging then I have no idea what could be. At any given point, there are thousands of people creating their first blog (like me) or making an update to their blogs that already exist. So why would anyone want to read mine? Why even start it and spend money on a site that people may not view? Why even spend time to write posts or create my ideal site? I personally made the decision because I have always used me being an introvert as an excuse and decided that life is too short to not do what you want.

I decided that today, on my Grandmother’s birthday (RIP Granny), that I will take the next step into my dreams and I encourage you to do the same.

So what is Love Brown Girl? In short, it is a blog that is used to discuss things from OUR point of view. Things that we find interesting, things we like to see / hear, things that make us happy, however; I do not claim to be an expert so all topics are from my perspective.

My site will continue to evolve as I want to talk about things that are current and highlight people in my life that are making moves. Thanks for being a part of my journey and I hope that we continue to grow together.

2022 Update:

After chatting with a friend whom recently started a new online shoe boutique while being a full-time mom, I really sat and thought about a business that would is something I am passionate about and clothing was the first thing that came to mind. She reminded me that whenever we go out, there is at least one person asking me what the items that I have on and I have always been vocal and open to share where it was purchased from. So why not take that interaction and turn in into a business. So starting this online boutique is not about making money (but hey, that is the goal too) but about sharing the pieces that I love with others.

As a Black women, we often set the trends and I want to have a place where we can continue to do that at a affordable price.

I hope that you all love the pieces that I have purchased and can continue to share feedback on what other items you are interested in!
